‘Heated Rivalry’ Officially Begins Filming on Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

It’s official – Heated Rivalry season two filming is now underway!
It was suspected that filming began last week, but on Monday (August 17), producers shared a first look from set noting that production has now begun.
“Day 1,” the Heated Rivalry HQ account captioned a photo on Instagram, tagging producers Jacob Tierney and Brendan Brady, as well as the show’s official account.
“Wheeeeeeeeeeee,” Jacob commented on the post.

As seen in the photo, the scene appears to be in an office with two figures filming, though there are no faces seen.
However, one actor has longer hair, which seems to possibly be new cast member Charlie Gillespie, who is set to play Troy Barrett.
With the new season finally starting filming, we’re taking a look at everything we know about what to expect so far…

What is Heated Rivalry season two about?
Season two is set to mainly focus on Rachel Reid‘s sixth book in the “Game Changers” series, “The Long Game,” which is the second Shane and Ilya book.
Here’s the synopsis, via Amazon:
To the world they are rivals, but to each other they are everything.
Ten years.
That’s how long Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov have been seeing each other. How long they’ve been keeping their relationship a secret. From friends, from family…from the league. If Shane wants to stay at the top of his game, what he and Ilya share has to remain secret. He loves Ilya, but what if going public ruins everything?
Ilya is sick of secrets. Shane has gotten so good at hiding his feelings, sometimes Ilya questions if they even exist. The closeness, the intimacy, even the risk that would come with being open about their relationship…Ilya wants it all.
It’s time for them to decide what’s most important—hockey or love.
It’s time to make a call.
In addition to “The Long Game,” season two is also set to intertwine the fifth book, “Role Model,” as the two books take place within the same timeline, and the characters of “Role Model” are heavily featured in “The Long Game.” See the synopsis below!
The hits just keep coming for Troy Barrett. Traded to the worst team in the league would be bad enough, but coming on the heels of a messy breakup and a recent scandal… Troy just wants to play hockey and be left alone. He definitely doesn’t want to “work on his online presence” with the team’s peppy social media manager.
Harris Drover can tell standoffish Troy isn’t happy about the trade, but Harris doesn’t give up on people easily. Even when he’s developing a crush he’s sure is one-sided. And when he sees Troy’s smile finally crack through his grumpy exterior… That’s a man Harris couldn’t turn his back on if he wanted to.
Suddenly, Troy’s move to the new team feels like an opportunity—for Troy to embrace his true self, and for both men to explore their growing attraction. But being together behind closed doors is one thing, and for Troy, being in a public relationship with Harris will mean facing off with his fears, once and for all.

Who stars in Heated Rivalry season two?
Of course, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie are returning as Shane and Ilya in season two.
They will be joined by several season one co-stars, as well as quite a few new additions, who have recently been announced.
Of the new season two cast members, Jacob tells THR that they were cast “to make sure that we’re putting couples together that we think are going to just shine on the screen.”

When does season two premiere?
Heated Rivalry‘s second season is currently scheduled to release in Spring 2027 simultaneously on Crave in Canada and on HBO Max in the US and more territories.
If you missed it, one actor recently got in trouble for spilling secrets…

What creator Jacob Tierney has said about season two
Creator and executive producer Jacob Tierney is at the helm of the second season, and he will also direct, just as he did in season one.
However, while he wrote season one by himself, he got some help in writing season two from Mike Goldbach.
“Mike is such a good writer, and he’s been so amazingly helpful to me,” Jacob told THR. “We’re very happy with where we’re at with the scripts. We’re really happy with this cast.”
Of season two, Jacob notes that the plot and events that are set to take place aren’t exactly a secret, since the show is based on the books.
“What’s so funny about the level of secrecy is like there’s a book — you can just look at it,” he said. “It’ll tell you honestly, 90 percent of what you’d like to know is in that book.”
“This is not the usual suspects. Like, we’re not trying to hide a villain from you… there are books, read them, and then make two guesses, three guesses, and I bet two of them will be right,” he added. “This show is not built on secrets. It’s built on feelings and sensation. It’s a very visceral show. It’s very sensual in that way, and it’s all in the execution of it.”
As for what he’s most looking forward to, Jacob says he just has to trust his instincts.
“I’ve never experienced fandom like this before, and I have to just trust myself the way I trusted myself last time,” the writer said. “I’m gonna try to make the best show I can make — that’s really all I can do. I can never make everybody happy at the same time. I hope I can make a majority of you happy, and I hope you also just cut me the slack to wait and see.”
