Rumer Willis Files Emergency Request to Keep Ex Derek Richard Thomas' Visits With Daughter Supervised | Just Jared

Rumer Willis is making a request to a judge.

The 38-year-old daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore filed an emergency request seeking to keep 40-year-old ex Derek Richard Thomas’ visits with their 3-year-old daughter Louetta supervised while the court considers their ongoing custody dispute, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ.

Why Is Rumer Willis Seeking an Emergency Custody Order?

Rumer claims he has repeatedly violated custody orders and has exercised dangerous judgment around their daughter. She also says that the supervised visits started June 20 and that he completed only five and a half visits because of disputes involving the nannies assigned to supervise his time, per the docs.

Rumer is also asking the court to prevent overnight visits until a hearing is held and to maintain the supervised arrangement pending completion of a court-ordered custody evaluation.

What Does Rumer Willis Allege in the Filing?

According to the filing, a nanny was agreed upon but had to exit the position due to health issues, and Derek has refused to accept a replacement. She also says he refused to allow a court-ordered supervisor into the home at one point.

Rumer is claiming Derek left the child with the supervising nanny at a Fourth of July parade and later refused to allow her into the Airbnb where he was staying with the child, and that he attempted to have an unsupervised visit with Louetta on July 5 because that nanny was not specifically named in the court order.

She also cites what she characterizes as dangerous judgment, claiming that Derek wanted to cross a five-lane highway with a 55-mph speed limit while accompanied by Louetta and allegedly chose to walk approximately two and a half miles in extreme heat rather than rent a car.

Rumer says she refused to permit the unsupervised visit and offered to hold the visit at her home instead, but Derek allegedly forfeited it.

The filing includes declarations from three nannies and alleged communications related to the visitation disputes.

How Has Derek Richard Thomas Responded?

Derek has denied allegations concerning his parenting and alleged drug use, calling Rumer’s claims “materially false and misleading.” He has accused her of interfering with his court-ordered visitation and asked the judge to leave the existing custody arrangement in place.

What Is Rumer Willis and Derek Richard Thomas’ Current Custody Arrangement?

In June, Rumer was granted primary physical custody, while she and Derek retained joint legal custody. The interim order provided Derek with monitored visits every other weekend beginning June 20, with the visits scheduled to transition to unmonitored overnight stays in August.

Rumer and Derek were ordered to participate in co-parenting counseling and to communicate through a co-parenting app.

In a statement to People at the time, Derek‘s attorney said, “Mr. Thomas is very pleased with the interim determination by the court on the custody issues. Judge White was properly focused on the issues at hand and carefully weighed the evidence presented. We are pleased that the Court established a custody and visitation order that provides Mr. Thomas with a solid and meaningful opportunity to restore and grow his relationship with his daughter Louetta.”

If you didn’t know, Rumer and Derek began dating in 2022 and welcomed their daughter Louetta in April 2023. In August 2024, Rumer confirmed that she and Derek had split up.

In recent court documents, Rumer claimed that Derek exhibited a “persistent pattern” of “insane emotional abuse.”
