More stars have joined the cast of Heated Rivalry!
On Thursday (September 3), it was announced that Kevin Zegers, Milla Jovovich, and Paul Gross have been cast in key roles in the upcoming second season of Crave and HBO’s hit queer hockey drama series.
Kevin Zegers as Coach Weibe
Kevin will be playing Coach Brandon Wiebe, a former professional hockey player and the rookie head coach of the Ottawa Centaurs, the team Ilya plays for in The Long Game.
You may recognize Kevin from his roles in Gossip Girl, Transamerica, The Rookie, and The Madison.
Milla Jovivich as Dr. Galina Molchalin
Milla will be playing Dr. Galina Molchalin, the therapist that Ilya sees in The Long Game.
You may recognize the Serbian-Russian actress from her roles in The Fifth Element, the Resident Evil movies, and 2019’s Hellboy.
Fun fact: Milla‘s mom’s name is Galina!
Paul Gross as Commissioner Roger Crowell
Paul will be playing Roger Crowell, the commissioner for the fictional professional hockey league in the “Game Changers” book series.
You may recognize Paul from Canadian shows Due South, Slings & Arrows, and Republic of Doyle. He also starred in the American series Eastwick.
What is season 2 about?
Season two will primarily adapt The Long Game, the sixth novel in the “Game Changers” series.The Long Game picks up with Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) and Ilya (Connor Storrie) after they’ve been secretly seeing each other for 10 years. While Ilya wants to take their relationship public, Shane worries that doing so could jeopardize their careers.
Creator Jacob Tierney has also confirmed that book 5, Role Model, will be incorporated into season 2. Other recent casting announcements suggest book 3, Tough Guy, will also factor into the season.
When will season 2 air?
As of right now, Heated Rivalry season 2 is expected to premiere in April 2027.
