Obsession's Michael Johnston's Next Big Role Revealed, In Talks to Join 'The Mummy' Sequel | Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Michael Johnston has seemingly found his next big role following the breakout success of Obsession!
The 30-year-old actor and singer is reportedly in early talks to join the upcoming The Mummy sequel, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.
Michael would join original stars Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz in the movie if his deal goes through. This would also keep Michael in the Universal family, as Obsession was produced by Blumhouse Productions, which Universal has a majority stake in.
The new Mummy movie was first announced in November 2025, and the premiere date was later set for May 19, 2028, though it has now been pushed up to October 15, 2027.
Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – known for Ready or Not and Scream – will direct, with a script written by David Coggeshall.
While Brendan starred in The Mummy, The Mummy Returns, and the final film of the trilogy, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, Rachel was only in the first two films. A reunion movie would mark the first time the pair have reunited on-screen in over two decades
If you missed it, earlier this month, Michael revealed whether he would want to reprise his role if Obsession got a sequel.
The InSneider was first to report Michael‘s casting.
