Taylor Swift Announces New Single ‘Patient Zero,’ Coming September 25

Taylor Swift is officially back with new music!

The 36-year-old superstar has announced her brand new single “Patient Zero,” which will be released on Friday (September 25).

The announcement comes after Taylor sent Swifties into a frenzy with a mysterious countdown on her official website on Tuesday (September 22), along with a series of cryptic clues involving the number zero.

“I’ve been impatiently waiting to tell you that my brand new single ‘Patient Zero’ will be out on September 25 (!!!!!!!!!!!!),” Taylor announced.

She added, “And it’s available to pre-order now on my website for 24 hours.”

Three different versions of the single are being made available through Taylor‘s website.

Along with the original version, Taylor is selling separate acoustic and piano versions of “Patient Zero” on CD.

Each version costs $3.99 and comes in a jewel case with a double-sided collectible cover featuring two different photos of Taylor, as well as collectible disc artwork.

The limited-edition CDs are available to U.S. customers until 1:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday (September 23), or while supplies last. The store says they are expected to ship on or around October 13.

The new song arrives nearly one year after the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, which dropped in October 2025.

Taylor Swift Teased ‘Patient Zero’ With a Mysterious Countdown

Hours before the announcement, Taylor‘s official website was taken over by a countdown set to expire at 2 p.m. ET.

The countdown followed several mysterious changes across her online presence.

Her social media bio was changed from “And, baby, that’s show business for you” to “And, baby, that’s sh0w business f0r y0u,” replacing each letter “O” with the number zero.

The clues came one day after fans noticed that a mysterious third page had been added to the “Read My Letter” section of Taylor‘s website.

While many fans had predicted that the countdown would lead to an announcement involving Taylor Swift (Taylor’s Version) or additional The Life of a Showgirl material, Taylor instead revealed “Patient Zero.”

“Patient Zero” will be released Friday, September 25.
