New York Knicks team owner James Dolan has confirmed that the team will be visiting the White House following their NBA Championship win.

Dolan confirmed the news in an interview on the WFAN New York radio show on Wednesday (June 17), in which he called President Donald Trump his friend.

All five previous NBA champions that were crowned while Trump has been in office all declined his invites.

“As a matter of fact, thank you for asking me that, we just did receive an invitation from the White House, which we accepted. We still have to figure out the details, et cetera, but yes, of course. Look, I invited the President to come down for the game. He is a friend. I’ve known him for 30 years and I’m very proud to bring the team to the White House.”

Teams that have declined Trump‘s invite include the Golden State Warriors, the Toronto Raptors, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Oklahoma City Thunder. Three teams visited the White House while Joe Biden was in office.

Dolan is a longtime Trump supporter and sat alongside him in his suite at game three of the NBA Finals, the only game that the Knicks lost during the series.
