Dave Bautista‘s time in the gym is clearly paying off!

On Wednesday (September 2) the 57-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy actor took to Instagram to show off his incredible physical transformation as he prepares to begin filming Prime Video’s TV series adaptation of the video game God of War.

“3rd week in to weight training again,” Dave wrote. “2 more months to get to where I need to be. Like ridin a bike! LFG!”

In the video, Dave takes off his shirt to show off his completely tattooed torso and stomach before he started flexing his muscles. As he flexed, he let out of a scream.

As a former WWE star, Dave used to be very buff, but in recent years, he decided to slim down to give himself an opportunity to play more acting roles.

He’s bulking up again to play Kratos, who is known for his muscular physique, in God of War, replacing Ryan Hurst after he dropped out of the show following an injury.

It was previously revealed that a new actor would be cast with a mid-October start eyed for production to start up once again. Additionally, most of the existing footage will be unusable because child actor Callum Vinson, who plays Kratos’ son Atreus, is already growing up, so they will have to do reshoots.

In the series, “Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”

Earlier this year, the God of War game creator shared brutally honest thoughts on the Amazon show.
