Anne Hathaway Makes First Comments About 'Yesteryear' Movie Adaptation, Praises Caro Claire Burke's Book | Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Anne Hathaway is speaking out for the first time about her upcoming movie Yesteryear, an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Caro Claire Burke.

The movie has been in the works for the past two years, but fans have only just discovered the novel this year as it was finally released to the world in April 2026. It has spent 17 weeks on the New York Times best-sellers list.

Yesteryear tells the story of a social media influencer named Natalie who has millions of followers, a ranch she runs with her husband, and six children. What her followers don’t know is that her entire profile is carefully curated and things are far from what they seem. When Natalie wakes up transported back to the year 1805 and she’s forced to experience life on a real ranch, everything changes.

Hannah Friedman, who is best known for writing on shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Willow, has been brought on board to write the upcoming movie adaptation.

Anne told THR, “That’s been a really fun discovery because I read a draft two years ago and I knew the intense feeling that I had for it, so it’s been really fun watching people discover it. I have friends writing me, they’re like ‘What, how?’ One of my friends wrote me and said ‘I can’t remember the last time that I immediately re-read a book.’ People are just loving it and I couldn’t be happier for Caro, what a triumph for her. And now we just have to do the movie justice.”
