'Ride or Die' Season 2? Octavia Spencer & Hannah Waddingham's Series Canceled at Prime Video, Will Be Shopped Around | Just Jared

Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham‘s buddy spy comedy series Ride or Die has been canceled after just one season on Prime Video.

The streamer has opted not to renew the show, which premiered in July and became a quick hit, landing at No 1 in the US rankings on the platform regularly, according to Deadline.

After two days of being out, the comedy series made Luminate’s weekly rankings in the US with 927k views, twice that of Elle and nearly four times that of Off Campus, both of which have been renewed.

The show also landed in Nielsen’s Top 10, debuting at No 8 on the overall streaming chart, and at No 3 among originals with 869 million minutes viewed. It then went up to No 4 on the overall streaming chart and to No 2 among originals in its second week!

In its first two weeks, Ride or Die became Prime Video’s most-watched new scripted series of the past year.

The show also rated well with critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, with a 96% Tomatometer score for critics and an 85% among viewers.

While Prime Video has opted not to renew, the show’s main studio, Paramount Television Studios, is reportedly shopping the series to find a new home.

What is Ride or Die about?

Ride or Die follows best friends Debbie Claybourne (Spencer) and Judith Burton (Waddingham) who thought they knew everything about each other, except Judith turns out to be an international assassin. When a mysterious figure emerges from Judith’s past and a hit goes horribly wrong, both of their worlds are turned upside down as they’re forced to go on the run together. It’s a race against time and a road trip across Europe, with law enforcement, highly trained assassins, and some very dangerous criminals at their heels.

In addition to starring, Octavia and Hannah also served as executive producers. The cast also includes Ed Skrein, Calam Lynch, Savannah Steyn, Jamie Parker, Jacky Ido, Sylvia Hoeks, and Bill Nighy.
