Remember the Maverick Men? Here's what they're up to now

Growing up queer in a world painfully straight is bound to spark some overlapping experiences, and one of them was undoubtedly the Maverick Men.

The gay couple were p*rnstars and social media influencers who first rose to fame in the early 2000s, though they really took off in the 2010s on platforms like Vine. God, those were the days.

Following a viral Twitter post in July, gay men have been recalling fond – and often filthy – memories. Many gay people remember them from that time, whether that be through their SFW content or their adult entertainment films.

Who are/were the Maverick Men?

Though it’s a little silly to suggest they were visionaries of adult entertainment, married couple Cole and Hunter Maverick were pioneers in the gay p*rn scene. Long before the invention of OnlyFans, they were arguably the driving force behind what is referred to as reality p*rn. There are no scenes, no script, and no fancy camera shots; just good old-fashioned s*x.

The Maverick Men made their start on XTube, but they were the first p*rn performers to branch out with their own site and into mainstream adult entertainment.

“We’ve always tried to keep everything honest and soulful. The content that we produce and share is our actual s*x life,” Hunted told Xtra Magazine. “We do it all ourselves; we star in it, film it, edit it, market it and distribute it. Also, we don’t have sex outside of our relationship unless it’s for video.”

Typically, the Maverick Men’s videos followed the same format: Hunter and Cole spending time with some young twink/twunk, almost like a vlog, before getting down to the dirty business. They never filmed with established p*rnstars, only fans and normal men who wanted to get down and dirty with the infamous duo. Their co-stars were not paid, unless you count s*x.

“Lucky for us, we get hit up by a bunch of guys every day. It’s always exciting to hear from people that are enthusiastic about what we do. We are continually in conversations with people that are interested in starring in a vid,” Hunter explained.

“When we shoot with a guy, we invite him to come stay with us at our home or wherever we are travelling at the moment; we host him, feed him, entertain him and our home becomes his. For obvious reasons, we prefer to really get to know someone before we jump in the sack or invite them into our home.”

Are they still around?

With the axing of Vine in 2017, which most of us are still not over, Cole and Hunter’s digital footprint retreated into the depths of the internet’s dirtiest corners. Now, they’re not as popular as they once were.

Though it did take some digging, the Maverick Men are still very much doing their thing. Over on Twitter, they boast 233k followers, so I think it’s fair to say they’re still doing pretty well.

Unlike most of the p*rn world, they’re not on OnlyFans. Instead, they make a killing through their own subscription website. There, men can also apply to be in one of their videos.

“Happy Birthday Hunter Maverick the love of my life 🙂 Together 23 years and still my best friend 🙂 Let’s have a fun sweaty crazy birthday this week,” Cole wrote on Twitter for Hunter’s birthday earlier this year.

Times might change, but people stay the same.
