Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are moving back to the UK.
In a shocking move, a new report has emerged that suggests the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be making the move overseas with their two kids, Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle lived in the UK for years before relocating to North America in 2020
In January of 2020, they confirmed they would be stepping back from royal life.
“After many months of reflection and internal discussions, we have chosen to make a transition this year in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. We intend to step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen,” a statement from the couple read in 2020.
The statement continued, “It is with your encouragement, particularly over the last few years, that we feel prepared to make this adjustment. We now plan to balance our time between the United Kingdom and North America, continuing to honour our duty to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages. This geographic balance will enable us to raise our son with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born, while also providing our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have faced rumors of a rift with the family
It is said that the UK royal family’s relationship had deteriorated in recent years and Prince Harry previously revealed 1 reason for the falling out in his family.
If you don’t know, Prince Harry wrote extensively about his brother and sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, in “Spare,” including sharing Kate‘s alleged texts with Meghan Markle.
They are apparently planning to move back to the UK, but will keep their California home
In July, the family of four reunited with King Charles for the first time in years. We never learned what was discussed at this meeting.
People reports that they will take up residency for an extended period of time this month and the kids will go to school in the UK. They are planning to keep their Montecito home, and their home in Portugal.
This UK home will be a non-royal home.
How King Charles feels about the Sussex’s move back to the UK
People reports that the King was informed of this plan over the weekend and “welcomes the opportunity to see more of the Sussex family in a private and personal capacity.” In addition, “there will be no change to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s status as private individuals and non-working members of the royal family.”
