The 25-year-old Obsession star will campaign for Best Actress during the upcoming 2027 Academy Awards season, Variety confirmed Wednesday (September 2).

Focus Features plans to campaign the Curry Barker-directed movie in “nearly every category the film is eligible to enter,” according to the report, described as “a full-court press studios reserve for a title they believe can go the distance.”

The distributor plans to campaign Curry for Best Director, Original Screenplay and Film Editing.

“Studios build Best Picture runs around a face and a narrative, and Focus is betting that a breakout turn is the engine that pulls the rest of the slate into the race,” Variety reports.

Obsession has grossed more than $505.6 million worldwide against a reported production budget of just $750,000.

Focus and the filmmakers reportedly have yet to decide whether Obsession will seek consideration in the Drama or Musical or Comedy categories at the Golden Globes.

It’s important to note that the campaign does not mean the movie or its stars have been nominated for Oscars. Nominations for the 2027 Academy Awards have not yet been announced.
