Usher has officially found his wax twin, and even he admits the figure might look a little too much like him.
Madame Tussauds Las Vegas unveiled its brand-new Usher wax figure on Wednesday, Sept. 2, giving fans another way to get up close and personal with the Grammy-winning singer while he’s back in Sin City.
The unveiling comes as Usher continues his 59-date R&B Tour with Chris Brown, with the pair set to bring their show to Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium on Sept. 5, 6 and 18.
And judging by Usher’s reaction to his wax figure, Madame Tussauds artists definitely understood the assignment.
“It looks more like me than me,” Usher joked at the special unveiling.
The singer also reflected on his longtime connection to Las Vegas, saying he was honored to share the “incredible moment” he experienced in the city with visitors from around the world.
“This is impressive,” he added.
For the big reveal, Usher showed up looking every bit like the star he is. The singer rocked a Tom Ford ensemble paired with his signature Ice Box “U” pendant and chain. He finished off the look with bracelets and smaller necklaces from Jacquie Aiche.
And the wax figure is also dressed in one of Usher’s own iconic pieces.
The singer donated the figure’s wardrobe, including a Vanson skeleton biker jacket he wore during his Las Vegas residency.
Creating Usher’s wax twin was no quick job.
The process began with a sitting involving Madame Tussauds’ Studio Artists, during which hundreds of measurements and photographs were taken from every possible angle. The team captured everything from Usher’s hair and eye color to his skin tone and facial features.
Then came the painstaking part. Over the course of roughly nine months, 20 artists worked on the figure, sculpting and painting it before individually inserting each strand of hair to nail Usher’s likeness. The result is a figure designed to capture the singer’s signature style and superstar persona in meticulous detail.
“We are truly honored to add a musical icon like Usher to our lineup of figures here in Las Vegas,” said Gabe Hewitt, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.
The new wax figure feels especially fitting considering Usher’s history with Las Vegas.
The singer famously completed a massive 100-show residency in the city from 2022 to 2023, turning his Vegas run into one of the hottest tickets in town.
He also headlined the halftime show at Super Bowl LVIII, which was held at Allegiant Stadium — the same venue where he’ll be performing during his current tour.
And Usher has more than enough career accomplishments to warrant a spot among Madame Tussauds’ celebrity lineup.
He released his self-titled debut album in 1994 at just 15 years old and has since sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Along the way, he’s collected eight Grammy Awards, 18 Billboard Music Awards, 12 Soul Train Awards and seven BET Awards, including the BET Lifetime Achievement Award.
Now, he can add another major honor to the list: having a wax version of himself permanently posted up in Las Vegas.
