Jax Taylor Speaks Out After Brittany Cartwright is Granted Restraining Order Against Him | Just Jared

Jax Taylor is breaking his silence following news that estranged wife Brittany Cartwright has been granted a temporary restraining order against him.

On Thursday (August 28), a Los Angeles judge ordered that the 47-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum must stay at least 1000 yards away from the 37-year-old The Valley star after she accused him of domestic violence.

According to Brittany, Jax had allegedly exhibited “coercive control, financial abuse, emotional and psychological abuse, gaslighting and even physical violence perpetrated upon” for nearly a decade.

She also claimed that he once threatened to “gut [her] like a fish” and physically attacked her.

After the news made headlines, Jax, who has been sober for over a year and half now, released a statement in response.

“I made a lot of mistakes and behaved in ways during that period of my life that I’m truly ashamed of and regret and take full responsibility for,” Jax shared in a statement with E! News. “The person I was in 2024, during the darkest time of my life and at the height of my addiction, is not the person I am today. I got help, went to treatment, and today I’m 1 year and 9 months sober. I’ve remained committed to treatment and therapy, working on myself and changing my life.”

Jax – who shares 5-year-old son Cruz with Brittany – added that “there are allegations being made that I strongly dispute. The full story, context and evidence will be addressed where it belongs – in court.”

“I will respect the court’s orders and the legal process,” Jax concluded. “My focus continues to be my sobriety, working on my mental health, being the best father I can be to Cruz and moving forward in a healthy and responsible way.”

Brittany also requested sole custody of their son, but the judge denied that request until a pending court date.

Brittany filed for divorce from Jax in August 2024 after five years of marriage. Though they are not officially divorced yet, the former couple finalized the custody agreement for their 5-year-old son Cruz in March 2026, agreeing to share joint legal and physical custody. In an from May, Brittany shared an update on co-parenting with Jax.

The restraining order against Jax comes weeks after he officially confirmed that he’s dating Lori Krebs, Brittany’s now-former longtime publicist and one-time close friend. If you didn’t see, Brittany publicly addressed the shocking relationship.
