'Ghosts' Actor John Hartman Claims TMZ Called His Family, Told Them He Died (Video) | Just Jared

John Hartman, an actor you’ll recognize from the CBS hit comedy TV show Ghosts, claims that TMZ called people in his life to tell them he had died.
The 42-year-old actor, who plays Nigel Chessum on the series, took to his social media to explain that the celebrity news site TMZ called “a number of people” and broke the news…which obviously turned out to be fake.

John Hartman Made a Video, Explaining the Death Hoax Story
“Yesterday, TMZ called a number of people in my life, including my sister, and said I died,” he began.
“It was all a misunderstanding. It got cleared up. Frankly, I didn’t know that TMZ cared if I was alive or not….Did give people quite a scare though,” John further explained. “I guess I learned my lesson that I should be on Instagram more, to prove that I’m alive.”
The Ghosts Actor Also Clarified That This Was Not a Joke or AI
He captioned his video, “In case ya missed it. Live In Peace,” and added, “(To clarify, this is 100% real, not AI, not a joke).”

John Hartman Did Not Explain the Circumstances Behind This Mix-Up
It’s unclear at this time why TMZ thought John had died, and why they reached out to his family. If John provides any further updates, we will share more.
TMZ also has not responded to this story.
