Emmy Awards Moving to Prime Video in 2027, No Subscription Needed

The Emmy Awards are getting a new home.
The Television Academy announced on Tuesday (October 6) that Prime Video will become the exclusive global home of the Emmy Awards beginning with the 2027 ceremony. The deal will run for six years, per the organization’s announcement.
The Emmys’ Longtime Network Rotation Is Ending
The move marks a major change for the awards show, which has traditionally rotated between ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. That longtime “Wheel Deal” concluded with the 2026 ceremony.
You Won’t Need a Prime Subscription to Watch the Emmys
Even though the ceremony is moving to Prime Video, viewers will not need a subscription to watch.
The Television Academy says the Emmys will stream live and free to viewers around the world, with Prime Video making the show available in more than 240 countries and territories. The ceremony will also continue to take place live in September.
“Television has never been more global, and the Emmys should be a celebration that the world can share,” Television Academy chair Cris Abrego said in a statement, adding that viewers will be able to watch live “with no subscription required.”
Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios head Mike Hopkins said the company is “honored” to become the global home of the awards show for the next six years.
The 2026 Emmy Awards aired in September, with The Pitt winning Outstanding Drama Series and Widow’s Bay taking home Outstanding Comedy Series.
