All of the living former Presidents are stepping out to honor those who died on September 11, 2001.
Barack Obama, Joe Biden, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton were among the many guests that attended the memorial service to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center at the National 9/11 Memorial & Museum on Friday (September 11) in New York City
Former First Ladies Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden, Laura Bush, and Hillary Clinton all joined their husbands at the ceremony.
Vice President JD Vance represented the current White House administration at the event. Former NYC Mayors Rudy Giuliani, Michael Bloomberg, Bill de Blasio, and Andrew Cuomo were also in attendance.
Other politicians seen at the memorial event included New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, New York Governor Kathy Hochul, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Sen. Chuck Schumer, and Democratic Minority Leader Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.
While Donald Trump did not attend the ceremony in NYC, he did attend a service at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
Earlier in the week, Bush, who was the sitting President at the time of the 9/11, appeared at his George W. Bush Presidential Center in Dallas, Texas where he and his former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice reflected on first learning of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.
“I didn’t have much time to process that, but it was pretty clear to me that if we were under attack, then my job was to defend the child that was reading to me, and her family, and her country,” Bush said, according to a broadcast of the event by C-SPAN. “And so it was a moment of clarity.
“In this case, I became a wartime president,” he continued. “There was no doubt in my mind that this was not a law enforcement event. This was a war, and the job of the president of the country and his team is to rally the nation to do what’s necessary to protect our people.”
