World Cup 2026 Ref Accused of Making 'White Power' Hand Gesture After Germany Win - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

An Australian referee has come under fire for a hand gesture.
Shaun Evans, a World Cup video assistant referee (VAR), is accused of making a “White power” hand gesture following the Germany-Curaçao match on Sunday (June 14), which Germany won 7-1.
He was been accused of making the upside-down “Okay” hand signal, which has been connected to far-right groups, according to the New York Times.
To make the gesture, the thumb and index finger touch while other fingers are outstretched, like the “okay” symbol. But it’s also been connected to mean “White power” in recent years, with the three fingers representing “W” for “White” and the thumb and index making a “P” for “Power.”
You can see the moment here that has gone viral and sparked debate.
The symbol is characterized as a hate symbol by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), but with a caveat: “Because of the traditional meaning of the ‘okay’ hand gesture, as well as other usages unrelated to white supremacy, particular care must be taken not to jump to conclusions about the intent behind someone who has used the gesture.”
According to FIFA, the organization is aware of the incident but did not provide a comment for the NYT report.
