Amid the news that Gypsy Rose Blanchard‘s ex-fiance Ken Urker just died, people are going to be curious to know more about her romantic history, so let’s look back at her relationship with ex-husband Ryan Scott Anderson.
Gypsy and Ken met back in 2017 while she was in prison for the murder of her mother and they got engaged after a year of dating, but later broke up.
Gypsy met Ryan soon after the breakup and they eventually got married while she was still behind bars.

2020: Ryan Scott Anderson sent a letter to Gypsy Rose Blanchard in prison
The former couple met because Ryan sent Gypsy a letter while she was in prison during the pandemic.
Gypsy replied in May 2020 and they formed a relationship over email.
“We met in 2020 when the pandemic was really, really strong, and I had a lot of emotional ups and downs because of COVID,” she said in a People interview. “Unfortunately, it put the prison in a position to where it restricted our freedom even more … So Ryan has seen me through some really good times, some really hard times.”
2021: The couple met in person for the first time
Gypsy and Ryan had to wait until the pandemic restrictions were lifted so that they could meet in person. They wrote to each other for a year before finally seeing each other face-to-face.
July 2022: Gypsy and Ryan get married
The couple tied the knot in July 2022.
The wedding ceremony happened while Gypsy was still in prison and there were no guests at the wedding.
She later told People, “We do plan on having a reception/redo wedding with all of our family and our friends and the dress and the cake and everything because we deserve that. I deserve that. He deserves that. Our prison wedding was just something to where we can make our vows to each other. It was something that meant something to us. And I think the party is kind of for everybody else and us, but mostly for everybody else.”
December 2023: Ryan picks Gypsy up from prison
Gypsy was released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center in Missouri around 3:30am on December 28, 2023, according to People.
She was picked up by Ryan.
The car he drove to pick her up had a Bret Hart license plate. The plate on the front of the Cadillac he was driving, featured a skull with the words “Bret Hart Hitman” above it. Bret was called “the Hitman” throughout much of his professional wrestling career.
January 2024: They do a press tour after her prison release
Gypsy and Ryan went to New York City just days after her prison release for a press tour, where they walked the red carpet at the premiere of her Lifetime docu-series.
“I had so many men that tried to date me, or write to me, or tried to hit on me, but nothing and no one is ever going to compare to the relationship that I have with Ryan,” she said in the documentary.
March 2024: Gypsy and Ryan break up months after prison release
In a post on her private Facebook account, Gypsy confirmed her split from Ryan.
“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately my husband and I are going through a separation and I moved in with my parents home down the bayou. I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now I need time to let myself find… who I am,” Gypsy wrote in her statement, which was obtained by People.
April 2024: Friend reveal what led to the split
Tattoo artist Nadiya Vizier, who is a close friend of Gypsy‘s, revealed what allegedly led to her split from Ryan.
Nadiya recounted Gypsy‘s version of events that unfolded recently at her home in Lake Charles, La.
Ryan allegedly screamed, “Let me in! Let me in!” and pounded on the bathroom door, where Gypsy had locked herself inside, Nadiya shared with People.
“He got in her face and screamed,” Nadiya said. “Gypsy said that she was afraid he was going to hit her. He didn’t — but that happened in the past with her mother. So, her first instinct was to tighten up and be prepared. But she got to safety and called her lawyer, too. Ryan is a big guy, and she told me it was really scary.”
Gypsy then allegedly packed her belongings and headed to her father Rod and stepmother Kristy‘s home in Cut Off, La.
April 2024: Gypsy files for divorce, starts spending time with Ken Urker
Gypsy was spotted hanging out with Ken Urker just days after her breakup was reported.
She also wasted no time in filing for divorce from Ryan. By May 2024, it was reported that she returned her wedding ring to him.
June 2024: Ryan addresses the split
About why they split, he told E! News, “I have some ideas. Personally, I think outside influences got involved. And I don’t want to pinpoint it yet, because I’m still processing, but I’d go to work and then her mind would just run rampant. And I’m still trying to figure out how did it happen so fast?”
He added, “That’s my thing, when I say I’m blindsided—really, I’m blindsided about how fast things occur. It’s like a snowball and I haven’t been able to stop it. It’s just one of those where it’s gonna continue to roll.”
He said, “I mean people in her inner circle, things like that got in her head. It just turned it.”
July 2024: Gypsy Rose Blanchard announces she’s pregnant
Based on the timeline of her pregnancy, some questioned if the father might have been her estranged husband Ryan or Ken.
She addressed the whispers and touched on Ryan in a new interview.
“It was mid March when I left Ryan. So, this is absolutely 100% Ken‘s baby,” Gypsy stressed in an interview with Good Morning America. “There was never any question of paternity.”
In regards to Ryan, she added that she hoped he was “okay emotionally.” However, that’s not her focus at the moment.
“I wish him the best emotionally. But right now, I have not even had a moment to stop and think about anybody else except for, ‘Am I taking my prenatals in the morning? Am I drinking enough water?’” she told the outlet. “Like, I have so much to focus on, making sure that I’m healthy for this baby.”
October 2025: Gypsy Rose reveals a regret about Ryan
“My only regret is having had broken a heart,” she told People in October 2025.
“I’m not the kind of person that would ever wanna cause anyone heartbreak or pain, but unfortunately, that is a part of life. Everyone has broken a heart a time or two. It doesn’t ever feel good. It’s part of the long road to get to where you actually belong.”
She also confirmed they don’t speak.
“After a long time of back-and-forth that just was unhealthy and argumentative, it’s best to let each other heal,” she said.
