What is O.J. Unseen about?

The documentary examines the making and collapse of Juiced, a hidden-camera prank concept built around Simpson during reality television’s shock-centric era.

The new series includes archival production footage plus interviews with creators, producers, performers, and cultural commentators. Footage shows Simpson in various disguises and captures behind-the-scenes conversations in which he refers to the infamous murder case.

The series explores why producers at the time thought the project could rehabilitate the disgraced athlete’s image and the ethical boundaries crossed during its creation.

The “Juiced” part of the title came from Simpson performing in disguises and then delivering the catchphrase, “You’ve been Juiced.”

Rebecca Halpern directed the project and Jemele Hill is among the featured commentators shown in promos.

Here’s the official synopsis shared by Warner Bros. Discovery.

O.J. UNSEEN: EXPLOITATION OF EVIL is the first documentary to chronicle and thoroughly investigate the making of Juiced, exposing the toxic collision of celebrity, media, and spectacle during an era when exploitation was increasingly packaged as entertainment. Drawing on unearthed footage and behind-the-scenes access, the docuseries traces the show’s evolution from audacious concept to troubled production, capturing the increasingly volatile atmosphere that unfolded both behind and in front of the cameras. At the center of the story are revealing interviews with Simpson himself, providing context for how the project was shaped at the time and his endless pursuit of notoriety through entertainment – a fixation that remained with him until his death.

Simpson was acquitted in the 1995 criminal trial over the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. He was later found liable for their deaths in civil court. He died in 2024 at age 76.
