With IMAX showtimes of The Odyssey sold out for the next few weeks, moviegoers will probably be wondering what will be released next in those theaters.

Most IMAX theaters are selling tickets for The Odyssey through August 12 as the screens are reserved for the upcoming movie The End of Oak Street beginning on August 14, with preview showings happening on August 13.

Movie studios have already reserved IMAX screens for movies being released throughout the remainder of 2026 and beyond. So, what’s coming next?

The End of Oak Street – August 14

When The Odyssey leaves IMAX theaters, it will be replaced by another Anne Hathaway movie: The End of Oak Street. The movie was filmed for IMAX and will get a two-week run in those theaters.

After a mysterious cosmic event rips Oak Street from suburbia and transports their neighborhood to someplace unknown, a family soon discovers that their very survival depends on them sticking together as they navigate their now unrecognizable surroundings.

The Dog Stars – August 28

Jacob Elordi‘s upcoming post-apocalypse movie The Dog Stars will be released on IMAX screens on August 28.

The film tells the story of Hig (Elordi), a young pilot who, together with a military survivalist, Bangley (Josh Brolin), has carved out an efficient but isolated homestead in a brutal post-apocalyptic world. But when Hig receives a mysterious radio transmission, he ventures into the unknown in search of the hope and humanity he still believes exist.

The movie wasn’t filmed exclusively for IMAX and there are three weeks until the next movie, so it’s likely that there will be screenings of The Odyssey added during this time period.

Resident Evil – September 18

Weapons director Zach Cregger is taking over the Resident Evil franchise with this new reboot.

In an all-new story, Resident Evil follows Bryan (Austin Abrams), a medical courier who unwittingly finds himself in an action-packed, non-stop race for survival as one fateful, horrifying night collapses around him in chaos.

The movie was filmed for IMAX and will get a two-week window in those theaters

Digger – October 2

Tom Cruise‘s upcoming movie Digger will be released on October 2. It was filmed entirely in VistaVision and will be shown in IMAX theaters across North America.

The most powerful man in the world embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s savior before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.

The movie will get a two-week window in IMAX theaters.

Street Fighter – October 16

The Street Fighter movie was filmed for IMAX and is being released in theaters on October 16.

Set in 1993, estranged Street Fighters Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo) are thrown back into combat when the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them for the next World Warrior Tournament: a brutal clash of fists, fate, and fury. But behind this battle royale lies a deadly conspiracy that forces them to face off against each other and the demons of their past. And if they don’t, it’s GAME OVER!

The movie will get a three-week window in IMAX theaters as the next movie isn’t until November 6. It’s possible that another movie gets slotted into IMAX screens during that third week.

Godzilla Minus Zero – November 6

Godzilla Minus Zero is the sequel to the smash-hit Japanese film Godzilla Minus One from 2023. It was filmed for IMAX and will hit theaters in the U.S. on November 6.

Godzilla Minus Zero picks up in 1949, two years after the tumultuous events of Godzilla Minus One, and continues the story of the Shikishima family as they face an all-new calamity.

The movie will get a two-week window in IMAX theaters.

The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping – November 20

The next movie in The Hunger Games franchise is coming to theaters on November 20.

The film will revisit the world of Panem 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell.

The movie will have a nearly one-month window in theaters, though another movie will be added into the mix just days later.

The Adventures of Cliff Booth – November 25

Before Brad Pitt‘s upcoming movie The Adventures of Cliff Booth is added to the Netflix streaming service, it will be released exclusively in IMAX theaters on November 25.

Because The Hunger Games is being released just days earlier, it looks like they will be sharing screens during that period.

Cliff Booth is getting a two-week engagement in IMAX theaters ahead of its streaming release on December 23.

Dune: Part Three – December 18

Dune: Part Three is the next movie that will achieve similar demand to The Odyssey.

This movie will be released in IMAX 70mm, a format that is only available in 25 movie theaters in the United States.

You can expect Dune 3 to be on IMAX screens for about a month, just like The Odyssey. The movie reserved these screens before Avengers: Doomsday, which is blocking that film from being shown in IMAX.
