Tim Curry‘s cause of death has been made public.

How Did Tim Curry Die?

The legendary actor, known for roles in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Clue, sadly passed away on August 25 at the age of 80, and now we know the official cause.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reports that Tim died of coronary artery disease, via documents obtained by People.

Stroke and kidney cancer are listed as significant conditions that also contributed to his death, but were not listed as the underlying cause.

The documents also reveal that no operations were performed for his stroke, kidney cancer or coronary artery disease.

He suffered a major stroke in 2012, after which he largely transitioned to voiceover projects.

What Is Coronary Artery Disease?

MayoClinic defines the disease as follows:

“Coronary artery disease (CAD) is a common type of heart disease. It affects the main blood vessels that supply blood to the heart, called the coronary arteries. In CAD, there is reduced blood flow to the heart muscle. A buildup of fats, cholesterol and other substances in and on the artery walls, a condition called atherosclerosis, usually causes coronary artery disease. The buildup, called plaque, makes the arteries narrow.”
