Netflix has started filming its highly-anticipated upcoming series This Summer Will Be Different on Prince Edward Island!
Filming will take place on both PEI and in Toronto. In addition to announcing the official start of production, the streamer also revealed new story details, casting news, and released a new first-look photo of the main cast members.
The series’ creators and showrunners include Dane Clark (Suze, One More Time) and Linsey Stewart (North of North, Workin’ Moms).
Who stars in the Netflix series?
Sophie Nélisse of Yellowjackets and Heated Rivalry is starring alongside Stranger Things and Do Revenge actress Francesca Reale and Roby Attal (The Haunting of Bly Manor, Sex Lives of College Girls).
Recurring cast members include Jordan Rodrigues as “Miles Lam,” Jude Wilson as “Zach”, Natalie Brown as “Christine”, James Tupper as “Ken”, Tom Barnett as “Peter,” and Celia Owen as “Joy”.
What is This Summer Will Be Different about?
“This Summer Will Be Different, based on the beloved novel by Carley Fortune, is a simmering, sun-soaked romance set across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island about Lucy, a young woman navigating her 20s and her first real love with her best friend’s brother, the one person she was never supposed to fall for,” reads the logline shared by Netflix.

The first season will have 10 episodes with directors like Karen Maine (Yes, God, Yes, Nobody Wants This), Jasmin Mozaffari (Ginny & Georgia, Firecrackers), and Fab Filippo (Sort Of, Save Me).
When could it be released?
There is no release date yet for the show, but with production currently underway, it seems like it is headed for a 2027 release.
