The Odyssey remains on top at the box office in a big way.

The Christopher Nolan-directed star-studded epic made history, bringing in $87 million at the domestic box office and dropping only 30% in its second weekend after a huge opening weekend.

That’s one of the Top 3 lowest second weekend drops for a $100 million-plus opening film, according to TheWrap. Only Wicked (27.9%) and Top Gun: Maverick (28.9%) had lower drops.

The movie also brought in $128 million in its second weekend internationally, bringing its overall haul to $639 million globally as of right now, and is on track to push through to the $1 billion mark. But will it make history as the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time?

Deadpool & Wolverine brought in over $1.3 billion at the box office to earn that distinction. Stay tuned as we wait to see how the movie performs in the next few weeks.

If you can’t find tickets for the movie in IMAX 70mm, you luckily will have plenty of time to catch the movie in that format.

IMAX has committed to showing The Odyssey in all of their theaters through August 13, when the movie The End of Oak Street will then fill those screens. That movie was also filmed for IMAX and the company is obligated to vacate the screens for it upon release.

Even though The End of Oak Street is coming soon to IMAX theaters, it won’t be shown on every IMAX screen.

We have a full explainer of the differences between IMAX 70mm, regular IMAX, regular 70mm, and other formats.

We also have a full list of the movies going to IMAX throughout the rest of 2026.
