The 2026 White House Correspondents’ Dinner was just evacuated!

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, among many others, were evacuated from the ballroom at the Washington Hilton on Saturday night (April 25) after shots were fired outside of the event.

According to Deadline, there were shots fired in the lobby of the hotel, and guests leapt under tables, with Secret Service and heavily armed guards jumping into action.

“I heard what sounded like four shots, and it seemed to come from the hall just outside the ballroom near my table,” Deadline‘s Ted Johnson said.

Other high ranking individuals were also moved out of the ballroom quickly.

While little is known about the shooter, there are conflicting reports of the person being dead or being in custody.

The shots were reportedly fired as guests were finishing the salad course of the dinner, per Variety via CSPAN coverage.

Other officials in attendance included Vice President JD Vance, hite House deputy chief of policy Stephen Miller, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, director of national intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk.
