Sadie Sink Reveals She's Involved in 'X-Men' Casting, Teases Jean Grey's Marvel Future | Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Sadie Sink is already looking ahead to Jean Grey’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The 24-year-old Stranger Things alum was finally revealed as the iconic mutant Jean Grey in the new Spider-Man movie after keeping her role secret for more than a year.

During a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sadie confirmed that she has met with upcoming X-Men director Jake Schreier and participated in early conversations about the movie’s script and casting.

When they initially met, Jean was the only member of the new mutant team who had already been introduced in the MCU. Sadie has since participated in portions of the casting process where chemistry between Jean and other characters will be important.

“Yeah, I met with Jake. I met him the first time he came to see John Proctor,” she explained. “It was this weird thing of being at the early stages of putting X-Men together, but he knew I was the only piece of the puzzle at that point, because I was the only mutant that had been established.”

Sadie continued, “So, yeah, a lot of talking to him about casting and where the script was going and all of that. It’s interesting to be at the very beginning of it. Now that it’s out and X-Men is being talked about and it’s happening, it’s so exciting to think about what’s next for her.”

She also knows when production is expected to begin, but she understandably kept the exact timing under wraps.

Sadie shared how she landed the role of Jean Grey

Sadie revealed in a separate interview with Vanity Fair that she did not audition for Jean. Marvel executives Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito approached her and explained their long-term plans for Jean, which made accepting the commitment feel like a “no-brainer.”

“The more that I learned about the character, the more I just got really excited about it and excited about this version of her too, which just feels really complex and different from what we’ve seen,” she shared.

The new X-Men movie is currently planned for release in 2028.
