'S.W.A.T. Exiles' Picked Up by Starz, Premiere Date Revealed for Shemar Moore-Led Spinoff - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

The S.W.A.T. franchise is officially getting its next chapter.
S.W.A.T. Exiles, the upcoming spinoff starring Shemar Moore, has been picked up by Starz in the United States and now has a premiere date.
The new series will debut on Friday, September 25, with new episodes airing weekly on Starz and streaming on the Starz app and Starz on-demand platforms.
Shemar is returning as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson for the 10-episode series, which comes after the original S.W.A.T. wrapped its run on CBS following eight seasons.
“S.W.A.T. Exiles is coming in hot!” Shemar said in a statement, per Variety. “I couldn’t be more excited that Starz is bringing this next chapter to audiences in the U.S.”
He added, “A huge thank you to Sony Pictures Television for believing in this franchise and continuing to invest in what we’ve built together. What makes this moment even more special is that we’re reaching audiences in all major territories worldwide. Fans everywhere will get to experience this epic new ride together.”
The spinoff follows Hondo after a high-profile mission goes wrong and he is pulled out of forced retirement to lead an experimental S.W.A.T. unit made up of younger, untested recruits. The new team will force Hondo to deal with clashing personalities, a generational divide, and the pressure of protecting the legacy of the program that shaped him.
Along with Shemar, the cast includes Lucy Barrett, Adain Bradley, Zyra Gorecki, Freddy Miyares, and Ronen Rubstein.
Some familiar S.W.A.T. faces will also be back. Jay Harrington and Patrick St. Esprit are set to return in the pilot, while David Lim is also expected to appear during the season.
The pickup is big news for fans after the original series had rollercoaster final stretch at CBS. S.W.A.T. was previously canceled, revived, renewed again, and then canceled for a final time before Sony Pictures Television moved forward with Exiles.
Previously, some S.W.A.T. cast members voiced frustration over the spinoff and the fact Shemar was initially the only returning cast member.
