Ryan Murphy is looking back at 13 years of American Horror Story!

While stepping out for the premiere of the milestone 13th season of the FX horror anthology series, the 60-year-old Emmy-winning writer and producer revealed his favorite season of the series, and his pick may surprise fans!

“My favorite season is the season which everybody hates, which is ‘Roanoke,’” Ryan told Page Six. “That is my favorite season; it’s my favorite form. I loved making it because it was playing with form.”

Released in 2016, “Roanoke” was the sixth season of AHS and the first half of the season used a true-crime documentary style to recount a couple’s experience at a haunted farmhouse in North Carolina. The second half shifted to found footage of real people and their actor counterparts back at the house during the Blood Moon.

The season starred Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Lily Rabe, Evan Peters, Andre Holland, and Lady Gaga.

“‘Roanoke’ started off being everyone’s most hated season, but now it’s kind of getting up there,” Ryan said of viewers’ initial reaction to the season. “And a lot of people are discovering it and it’s become a lot of people’s favorite, so I’m like, ‘Justice for ‘Roanoke!’”

However, not everyone in the AHS universe has the same feelings as Ryan.

Sarah, 51, recently told Entertainment Tonight that she can’t stand “Roanoke,” noting that “people get mad at her” when she says it.

“I don’t care!” the Emmy-winning actress exclaimed. “Bite me! Bite me hard! I don’t give a s***, sorry!”
