Oliver Hudson Opens Up About Comparing Himself to 'Icon' Mom Goldie Hawn | Just Jared

Oliver Hudson is opening up about how his famous family figures into the expectations he sets for himself.

The 50-year-old actor discussed his insecurities during the season 5 premiere of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, which aired Thursday (September 24) on Fox.

“Coming from a successful family, I wrestle with comparison. I wrestle with insecurity,” he shared during a confessional during the episode.

He said his mom, Goldie Hawn, is an “icon” and he’s sometimes felt that part of him needs a bigger accomplishment for his family to be “truly proud of me.”

Oliver grew up with Goldie and her longtime partner Kurt Russell, alongside siblings Kate Hudson and Wyatt Russell, per People.

His career has included a mixture of sitcoms and dramas. Oliver starred opposite Jenna Fischer on Splitting Up Together and worked with Patrick Warburton on Rules of Engagement. Viewers may also recognize him from Nashville, Scream Queens, and The Cleaning Lady.

He has worked with his family members, too. Oliver appeared alongside Kurt in The Christmas Chronicles and cohosts the podcast Sibling Revelry with Kate.

His latest television project places him among 15 celebrity recruits taking on military-inspired training in Malaysia. The group includes Candace Cameron Bure, Ruby Rose, Matt Barnes, Alycia Baumgardner, and Hannah Stocking. Find out who else joined Oliver on Special Forces this season.

Former special forces operatives oversee the exercises, which take place in the jungle. Fox says one daunting task sends celebs 300 feet above the jungle to receive supplies.
