A new Longlegs movie is coming.

Osgood Perkins is developing a follow-up to the 2024 film starring Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe that went on to become the highest-grossing independent film of the past decade.

Interestingly, this time around, the film will be distributed by Skydance/Paramount instead of Neon, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Osgood has written the new project and will direct it as well as produce. Nicolas is set to return to star and as a producer.

Plot details have not been revealed yet, but the film will be “set in the Longlegs universe,” meaning it’s also unclear whether it will be a direct sequel, a prequel, or something else entirely.

The 2024 film became a massive hit primarily thanks to its terrifying marketing and word-of-mouth. Set in the 1990s, the movie followed FBI agent Lee Harker (Monroe) as she tried to track down the occult-obsessed serial killer responsible for murdering several families.

According to sources, Neon opted not to back the latest project because the “scope and budget exceeded that of the the company’s normal parameters.”

The first movie was made on a budget of less than $10 million.

Nicolas will also soon star in the upcoming Spider-Noir series for Amazon Prime Video. New teaser trailers were released earlier this year!
