Max Greenfield is looking back at Taylor Swift‘s surprise cameo on New Girl!

Back in 2013, the 36-year-old “Shake It Off” singer made a guest appearance in the season two finale of the hit Fox series. She played Elaine, a guest at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha), who objected to the ceremony and professed her love for the groom.

While appearing on the Friday (August 14) episode of Jake Shane‘s Therapuss podcast, Max, 46, praised Taylor and her acting abilities.

“Taylor wasn’t quite yet Taylor — but I remember she was on set and we were hanging out and she was so kind,” Max recalled. “And she was a better actor than all of us.”

He then shared a core memory he has from when they worked together.

“I remember asking her, I said ‘Can I ask a question?’ She was like, ‘yeah, sure.’” Max said. “And I go, ‘if you could play like to an intimate audience or a big arena — What do you prefer?’ And she goes without missing a beat. She goes, ‘if you could fill the ocean with people, I’d like to play for that.’”
