“After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” Kanye wrote on his Twitter/X account on Tuesday night (April 14).
Kanye was supposed to perform in Paris on June 11th at Marseille at Stade Vélodrome.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan and French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez spoke out saying he has no place in the country following his use of hate speech and more online and in his music.
“I refuse to let Marseille be a showcase for those who promote hatred and unabashed Nazism. Kanye West is not welcome at the Vélodrome, our temple of living together and belonging to all Marseillais,” Benoît previously wrote on Twitter/X in early March.
The possible French ban comes after Kanye was also recently banned from entering the UK, followed by the Wireless Festival, where he was supposed to headline, to be canceled.
