Julianne Moore Returning to the Stage in Sarah Ruhl’s New Off-Broadway Play ‘Faydra’

Julianne Moore is returning to the stage.

The 65-year-old Oscar-winning actress will star in Sarah Ruhl‘s Faydra, coming to the Manhattan Theatre Club Off-Broadway.

The production is being directed by Les Waters.

When Does ‘Faydra’ Open?

It will play a limited engagement at the venue starting on February 2, 2027, and officially opening on February 25, 2027, per Playbill.

What Is ‘Faydra’ About?

Here’s a synopsis: “The In the Next Room playwright has reimagined the Greek myth, centered on the titular Faydra after an arrow from Aphrodite makes Faydra lust over her own soon-to-be stepson.”

More casting details will be announced in the coming weeks.

“There’s nothing like watching a homegrown Manhattan Theatre Club commission become a magnet for talent. Sarah Ruhl’s bold, funny, and devastating reimagining of this classic tale will draw the immensely gifted Julianne Moore back to the stage, and mark Les Waters’ return to MTC after three decades. We look forward to announcing additions to this exciting company in the months ahead,” said the venue’s artistic director Nicki Hunter in a statement.

Julianne previously starred in Broadway in 2006’s The Vertical Hour.
