Wonka’s The Golden Ticket has officially crowned its first winner, but will Netflix open the doors to the Chocolate Factory again for Season 2?

The new reality competition series debuted on Netflix on September 23, with the final two episodes arriving on Wednesday (September 30).

With the first season now complete, viewers are naturally wondering whether another group of Golden Ticket holders will get the chance to compete for a massive cash prize.

As of September 30, Netflix has not announced a second season of Wonka’s The Golden Ticket.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the show is canceled. The first season only premiered one week ago, and its two-part finale just arrived on the streaming service.

There is also some encouraging news for fans hoping for more.

According to Netflix, Wonka’s The Golden Ticket made a strong debut on the streamer’s weekly Top 10 following its September 23 premiere.

For now, however, viewers will have to wait to find out whether the Chocolate Factory will reopen for another competition.

We’ll update this post if Netflix announces a renewal or cancellation.

What Happened in Season 1?

The first season brought 12 Golden Ticket winners and their chosen partners inside a massive recreation of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

The contestants faced a series of games, tests and temptations, with one player ultimately winning what the show calls a “lifetime supply of money.”

The prize was actually worth $3 million, paid as a six-figure annuity over 30 years.

Unlike most reality competitions, the series did not feature a traditional host. The late Gene Wilder‘s voice was recreated as Willy Wonka with permission from his estate, while stars including Howie Mandel, Nick Cannon and Wayne Brady appeared throughout the season to oversee games.

The first season consisted of nine episodes.
