Joe Manganiello and Sofia Vergara broke up in 2023, and now, he’s writing about her in his new memoir Bloodlines. The book will be available on October 13.
As a refresher: the former couple announced their breakup in July 2023 after seven years of marriage. Sofia said in a January 2024 interview that their marriage ended because Joe wanted kids, and she didn’t want to have more.
Joe publicly disputed this in July 2024.
In “Bloodlines,” Joe Manganiello Details His Fight with an Autoimmune Condition
In the book, Joe details how his health went downhill after their wedding.
He had excruciating pain in his abdomen, underwent surgeries and colonoscopies, and even had part of his intestines removed with an ostomy bag installed.
“It happened to me, and it’s the truth, and I have all the scars to prove it. [Autoimmune] conditions are a dumping ground for things [doctors] don’t understand. They start running you through this gauntlet of drugs,” Joe said (via People). Doctors prescribed him drugs for Crohn’s and colitis, and he ended up on hydrocodone pills, fentanyl patches and marijuana.
Joe Manganiello Revealed How This Impacted His Marriage
He shared that his marriage “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.”
In the book, Joe reportedly claims that, amid his health issues, Sofia “refused to hug him even when he begged” and “she ridiculed him for his 5-lb. chihuahua Bubbles.” Joe says he adopted Bubbles in 2019 when he was having thoughts of self harm: “I had to give my gun away because I kept thinking about it, and then the dog came. I went from being the patient to the caretaker.”
Joe Manganiello Tells His Version of the Baby Story
After Sofia said they “broke up because my husband was younger; he wanted to have kids, and I didn’t want to be an old mom,” Joe said he actually gave up on wanting a child due to his illness.
“There were things said and printed about me that were false,” Joe said.
Joe Manganiello Is Now Symptom-Free
Joe Manganiello was able to get off of medications and become symptom free and found healing after visiting a shaman.
By the way, Joe is now engaged!
