Javier Bardem Shares Petition Seeking to Remove Pink as UNICEF Ambassador Amid Macklemore Controversy | Just Jared

Javier Bardem has shared multiple posts in support of a petition seeking to remove Pink as a UNICEF ambassador.

The 57-year-old No Country for Old Men star re-shared several posts to his Instagram Stories on Monday (September 21) encouraging people to sign a Change.org petition to get Pink dismissed as an ambassador.

The petition currently has 161,120 verified signatures at the time of writing this article and remains live on the website.

Pink received significant backlash after calling out Macklemore‘s “Free Palestine” message on Ed Sheeran‘s concert tour. Once people began criticizing her, she started to share memes with comments like, “Being liked by everyone is a clown’s job.”

She later published a 1,000-word essay about why she spoke out about his message.

The Change.org petition directly addresses her comments, saying, “Pink‘s recent comments are not just unfortunate but also incompatible with the role of a UNICEF Ambassador—an individual expected to promote peace, understanding, and humanitarian values above personal biases. UNICEF’s mission is to uphold the rights and dignity of all children, regardless of political affiliations or geographic boundaries. We rely on ambassadors to be torchbearers of these principles, fostering inclusive dialogue and meaningful support.”

The petition later proposes UNICEF takes “decisive action and remove Pink as an ambassador. This move would reaffirm UNICEF’s commitment to impartiality and its dedication to all children, irrespective of nationality or heritage.”

Macklemore was removed from the tour and all of Ed‘s opening acts and his backing band drop out of the tour after he removed Macklemore from the lineup for making pro-Palestine comments on stage.

He has since broken his silence on Macklemore being removed from the tour and noted that it was not his decision to do so.
