Hayden Panettiere tragically passed away at the age of 36 – just five days shy of her 37th birthday. If you did not see the tragic news, the Heroes alum passed away on Sunday (August 16).
It is being reported that she suffered a possible overdose.
Earlier this year, Hayden released her memoir, “This Is Me: A Reckoning.” As part of her press tour, she completed numerous interviews towards the end of her life.
In May of 2026, she gave an update on her relationship with her daughter Kaya, 11, who she shares with ex Wladimir Klitschko.
Where did Hayden Panettiere stand with her daughter Kaya and ex Wladimir Klitschko?
In a May 2026 interview, NPR asked Hayden, “How much are the two of them, your daughter and your former partner, part of your life now?”
Hayden responded, “I mean, I travel as much as I can. I spend as much time as I can with her. I have a great relationship with – co-parenting relationship with Wlad I’m incredibly grateful for. I have a relationship with my daughter.”
She added, “If I can’t be there with her physically, then I talk to her all the time on FaceTime. And she’s getting to that age where she’s reaching out more and more to Mommy, which is beautiful. But I feel like I’ve gotten to – we developed a relationship that’s unique and different than most parents get to have with their children. Hopefully, you know, a growing friendship, too.”
On her daughter being able to live a private life out of the spotlight, she added, “Oh, it’s perfect. It’s amazing. It’s everything that I wanted for her. And it’s incredible to watch her thrive. It’s incredible to watch her, as a parent, have friends and not struggle socially. She – you know, we want to protect our children from going through the traumas that we went through, and to see her thrive in areas that I struggled in is the greatest gift.”
She revealed Kaya had grown interested in the entertainment industry
“I started getting calls from my 11-year-old about being interested in the industry,” she told E! News in May 2026. “I always want to support whatever she wants to do but I am trying to guide her towards, you know, let’s not rush into anything. Why don’t you try a few things out and have a college experience.”
