Hasan Piker Slams SXSW London After Being Banned Entry Into the UK - Just Jared - Celebrity News and Gossip

Hasan Piker is calling out SXSW London for their response after he was .

The 34-year-old political commentator was scheduled to speak at the event. His uncle Cenk Uygur was also barred from entering, where he was set to speak at the event as well.

Following news of the ban, Hasan, who says they were banned due to their criticisms of Israel, took to social media and his Twitch stream to put SXSW London on blast, calling out their response to the bans, and their lack of support.

“sxsw was a minor part of my trip to the uk,” Hasan wrote on Twitter/X on Monday (June 1). “they totally didn’t defend me or cenk at all, they’re actual f-cking losers and i will never work with them for the rest of my life. if you bought a ticket expecting to see me you should demand a refund.”

“i’ve been fighting the far right for a decade plus,” he added. “i never would’ve imagined a labor govt would ban me from entering the uk. dark times ahead for the west. liberalism is dead, maga fascism and it’s corrosive influence is felt everywhere.”

A spokesperson for SXSW London shared, via TheWrap, “Decisions on entry to the U.K. are a matter for the Home Office and the individuals concerned. SXSW London’s role is to convene a broad range of diverse voices and perspectives. We remain focused on delivering a programme this week fostering open dialogue and exchange of ideas and featuring more than 800 speakers, artists and screenings.”

Hasan was scheduled to participate in a panel titled, “How the American Left Learned to Speak the Internet,” with Ash Sarkar, who also revealed on Twitter/X that she pulled out of the event as well, in solidarity, even sharing a screenshot of the email she sent organizers.

During a Twitch stream, Hasan continued to call out SXSW London, calling their statement disgusting.

“It’s not like they’re paying me, right? I’m not getting paid by SXSW to do this, right? It’s actually really insane. I’m doing this as a f—king favor and they’re literally farming donations off of my image off of my likeness,” Hasan shared. “Then it’s crazy that they just, once the Home Office intervened and revoked my visa, when the Home Office intervened and revoked my visa, SXSW’s statement was disgusting. Like, it was literally nothing.

“To us, they were like, ‘Sorry, we have to abide by the governemnt’s demands.’ That was one. And then their public thing was they just deleted my background page. They just deleted my speaker page,” he added.

Earlier this year, a controversial rapper was also banned from entering the UK.
