Drew Starkey says the ending of Outer Banks made him super emotional.

The 32-year-old actor who plays Rafe Cameron visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for the Thursday night (July 30) episode and admitted he broke down in tears after he finished filming the fifth and final season.

“It was totally bittersweet. We spent seven years on that show and those are my best friends and I felt, the last couple months of filming, I thought I was fine,” Drew said. “I thought I was a sociopath. I was like, ‘I feel nothing, I’m ready to get out of here, I don’t care.’”

But he says it hit him later on, during the “last shot” of his final scene. The second they yelled cut, Drew said he started crying.

“I was just weeping. Like, constantly,” he said.

Drew continued, “I cried for a solid two hours and crew members kept coming up to me, I was like, ‘I’m good.’ And then someone would walk up and I’d [cry].”

The Queer star said “all these memories” came flooding back because he started the show when he was just 25 years old and is now 32, “so it was such a sentimental time.”

Outer Banks season 5 premieres on August 20. Watch the official trailer!

Drew is currently starring opposite of Anya Taylor-Joy in the Apple TV show Lucky.
