Cher filed the paperwork in Los Angeles court on Thursday (April 16), requesting that fiduciary Jason Rubin be appointed the conservator of her son’s estate.

In the document, the singer says Elijah is “gravely disabled” and his “drug dependency is at its worst,” claiming he has “no concept of money” and alleges he spends any money he gets “immediately” and “almost exclusively” on “drugs, expensive hotels, and limousine transportation.”

The doc also says he owes $200,000 in taxes, as well as his “excessive spousal support” to ex-wife Marieangela King.

According to the court document, Elijah is “currently in custody in the State of New Hampshire in a locked psychiatric hospital, in an attempt to restore him to competency to face criminal charges across two New Hampshire counties for: felony burglary criminal mischief, simple assault, criminal trespass, and breach of bail.”

This isn’t the first time Cher has filed for a conservatorship over Elijah. In late 2023, she filed to take control of his finances, and he responded at the time saying that it was not necessary.
