Charlie vs. the Chocolate Factory is coming!

The new film from Netflix Animation Studios, will release globally in theaters on November 5, 2027, and on Netflix on December 22, 2027.

Along with the previously announced voice actors Kit Connor and Taika Waititi, Netflix announced on Wednesday (August 12) that the film will also feature the voices of Nicola Coughlan, Charithra Chandran, Samson Kayo, and Christopher Chung, with Kate Winslet and Helena Bonham Carter.

Here’s a synopsis: “Willy Wonka (Waititi) has spent the years since the Golden Ticket contest behind bars (not the chocolate kind) for the crime of turning a child into a blueberry. Having served his time, Wonka returns to his factory determined to add a little sweetness to a bitter world. But one thing stands in his way: teenager Charlie Paley (Connor) and his friends. Facing eviction, this next generation of ‘rotten’ kids plot to break into the factory, nab a priceless Wonka Bar, and save their homes. But like many before them who enter the fantastical world of the factory, these kids are in for a bit more than they can chew… “

The LEGO Batman Movie director Jared Stern and Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia‘s Elaine Bogan will direct, and Taika Waititi is also executive producing the project.

The legendary Gene Wilder‘s voice is being recreated for Netflix’s upcoming reality competition series, Wonka’s The Golden Ticket. The new show is inspired by Roald Dahl‘s book “Charlie & the Chocolate Factory” and the 1971 movie adaptation, Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory. Get the details.
