BTS member V, whose real name is Kim Taehyung, has revealed he has hearing loss.

The 30-year-old singer was doing a live stream on Wednesday (August 12) when he revealed the news.

“If my hearing on this ear is 100, the other ear can only pick up around 30. I’m regularly taking prescribed medicine and visiting the doctor often,” he said (via the BBC and The Korean Times).

He told his fans that this had been happening for around “two and a half” years.

This coincides with V‘s military service.

He joined in 2023 and was discharged in June 2025.

If you are not aware, as the BBC notes, “all able-bodied men are required to serve 18 months of military service in South Korea.” All 7 of the BTS band members ended up enlisting.
