Billy Porter is opening up his intimate time in the bedroom and how he paid someone to help him become a “bottom.”

The Emmy and Tony-winning actor appeared in the Finding Fire Island documentary and discussed his sex life during the “Sex Before the Internet” episode.

Billy opened up about hiring escorts who advertised in the gay magazine HX.

“Yeah. I called a couple of escorts from HX,” he said. “I’m telling some real personal sh-t right now.”

Billy said that he was a “top” in the bedroom in his younger years. In the early years of the AIDS crisis, people believed that men who were “bottoms” in the bedroom were the ones who acquired the disease.

“You know, I was what you considered a top,” Billy said (via Queerty). “Oh, ‘I’m a top’ was a common, fear-based response. But by 30, I was ready to be versatile.”

Billy hired an escort to help him learn how to be a bottom.

“And I didn’t really know where to go, and I wanted a professional. So, I did go to HX. And you had to vet over the phone. They had pictures, but you had to call, you had to talk. It wasn’t text message. You had to hear the voice,” he said. “That was a part of the allure of it, your voice. But I, you know, had to hire a professional to teach me how to bottom.”
