Benny Blanco Says He’s Ready to Have Kids With Selena Gomez Ahead of First Wedding Anniversary: ‘Full-Court Press’

Benny Blanco is ready to start having kids with wife Selena Gomez!

The 38-year-old record producer appeared on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle on Tuesday (September 15) and shared he is “full-court press” on starting a family with the singer.

Benny had a one-on-one chat with co-host Jenna Bush Hager to talk about his new buck F–k Failure and the topic of babies came up when Jenna mentioned a recent Instagram Story shared by Selena, 34.

In the photo, the Only Murders in the Building star can be seen spending time with a newborn baby and she wrote “one day..” in the text overlay. At the time, it sparked attention from her fans, who were wondering if Selena was hinting at pregnancy.

Now, Benny confirms that he is all-in on wanting kids.

Jenna asked if fatherhood is something he’s looking forward to and the songwriter immediately replied, “Yeah. I am pressing it. I am full-court press over here.”

Asked about the Instagram photo, Benny also said he agrees with all the fan speculation.

“That’s what I wanted, too. I’m like, really? One day when?” he added.

Benny and Selena’s first wedding annivesary is coming up

Selena and Benny married in California on September 27, 2025 and their first wedding anniversary is fast approaching. While chatting with Jenna, Benny shared how they plan to celebrate their wedding anniversary, revealing they expect a quiet celebration after months of traveling and may revisit their wedding speeches for the special day and have slices of their wedding cake after saving it, a tradition he learned about from Selena‘s grandmother.

“I didn’t even know this was a thing. Her grandma, her nana told me this,” Benny said. “When we were at the wedding, she was like, ‘You gotta save the cake.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean save the cake?’ And she was like, ‘You gotta save the cake.’ And I was like, ‘Why?’ She was like, ‘You have to eat it.’”

“So yes, we have six slices left. I hope you only have to eat it for the first year,” he joked. “I hope that’s the only tradition. I don’t want to be eating this thing on year six. I didn’t even wrap it correctly. It’s probably furry now.”

What has Selena said about wanting children?

Selena has also been open about her hopes of becoming a mother, although she’s also talked about how carrying a pregnancy would pose medical risks for her.

“I haven’t ever said this…but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children,” she told Vanity Fair during a September 2024 interview. “I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby’s in jeopardy. That was something I had to grieve for a while…”

She said she had gotten to a “much better place” and spoke positively about surrogacy and adoption.

“It made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I’m one of those people,” she continued. “I’m excited for what that journey will look like, but it’ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” Selena said at the time.
