Ashley Tisdale Admits She Tried to Divorce Husband Christopher French 'So Many Times' While Struggling with Postpartum Depression | Just Jared

Ashley Tisdale is opening up about her postpartum depression.

In the first episode of her husband Christopher French’s new podcast Recovering, which was released on September 30, the 41-year-old High School Musical actress spoke about her mental health struggles after giving birth to their older daughter Jupiter, now 5.

She admitted that her postpartum depression placed major stress on her marriage to the 44-year-old composer.

“You dealt with a lot of that, and we had difficulty during that first year,” Ashley admitted. “I tried to divorce you so many times. But you’re so grounded and calm and knew to just let it blow over.”

She went on to say that she felt consumed by her postpartum depression after welcoming Jupiter, who was born in March 2021.

“I was so proud of myself for dealing with the anxiety stuff and being like, ‘Okay, now I am ready to have a child because I feel like I’m equipped emotionally to be able to do that,’” Ashley recalled. “But then I got hit with postpartum depression, which is really hormonal, and all the tools that I learned and knew how to use, you can’t use.”

She explained that her anxiety got even worse while she was dealing with postpartum depression, saying that it was “very intense.”

“I remember being in a car and almost having a panic attack just being in traffic, and then nobody was diagnosing me with it, too,” the Hellcats actress noted.

It wasn’t until after Jupiter turned 2-years-old that Ashley‘s doctor finally told her that she had postpartum depression.

“I was like, ‘What? How did you not know to tell me this?’” she recalled. “I was just like, ‘Man, that’s crazy.'”

Luckily, when Ashley and Christopher welcomed their second daughter Emerson, now 2, in September 2024 she didn’t experience the postpartum depression symptoms as severely.

“It’s pretty cool doing it again and not having that experience,” she added.
