Andy Lewis, also known as Sketchy Andy, has tragically passed away.

The professional slackliner and BASE-jumping guide died in a jump accident on Sunday (June 14) at a canyon in Utah.

He and an unidentified 50-year-old man were both found dead following a jump gone wrong at Mineral Bottom, per an official release from the Grand County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Jamison Wiggins’s office confirmed to Moab Sun News that deputies, Grand County Search and Rescue, Grand County EMS and two Intermountain helicopters responded to the scene.

Andy owned and operated BASE Jump Moab, a local guiding company, and he and the unidentified victim were doing a tandem BASE jump when the tragedy occurred.

BASE jumping is an extreme sport where individuals parachute from ground-level objects rather than aircraft. The acronym B.A.S.E. represents the four categories of objects jumpers leap from: Buildings, Antennas (towers), Spans (bridges), and Earth (cliffs or mountains).

Andy was very well known in the stunt space, and also performed on a slackline with Madonna during her 2012 Super Bowl halftime show.

In 2011, he set a Guinness World Record for the most side-surf movements performed on a slackline in one minute. Two years later, he set a record for a highline walk between towers of the Mandalay Bay on the Las Vegas Strip,

Our thoughts are with Andy‘s loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
