Aisha’s Godbrother Questions Maxwell’s Motives

A 90 Day Fiancé star’s marriage is still facing scrutiny from her family, and BOSSIP has an exclusive look at the tension unfolding during Sunday’s Tell-All finale.

As previously reported, Aisha Montgomery and her Nigerian husband, Maxwell, officially tied the knot despite several obstacles in their relationship, including the denial of his K-1 visa. While the newlyweds are happily married, Aisha’s godbrother Rod remains skeptical of Maxwell, and during the Tell-All, he makes it clear that his concerns haven’t subsided.

His skepticism comes despite Aisha remaining steadfast in her relationship. She previously told BOSSIP that she believes her faith led her to Maxwell and that marrying him was an intentional choice that went beyond romantic feelings.

She’s also pushed back against concerns from people in her circle rooted in stereotypes about Nigerian men and scams, arguing that Maxwell should be judged as an individual rather than by assumptions about his nationality.

Rod Thinks Maxwell “Love-Bombed” Aisha

In BOSSIP’s exclusive clip from the 90 Day Fiancé Tell-All finale, Rod admits that he still doesn’t believe Maxwell is good enough for his god-sister.

“I don’t know him,” Rod tells host Shaun Robinson. “I keep saying it over, over and over again.”

When Aisha’s fellow cast members encourage him to get to know Maxwell, Rod points to the couple’s long-distance circumstances.

“How can I get to know him? He’s 5,000 miles away?”

Robinson then questions whether Rod’s distrust of Maxwell suggests that he doesn’t trust Aisha’s judgment.

“I believe her vision is blurry right now,” Rod says. “I think he love-bombed her.”

Aisha, however, thinks something else is fueling her godbrother’s disapproval.

“I feel like he feels like he’s losing control,” she says. “He can’t control Maxwell because Maxwell is in Nigeria.”

That echoes what Aisha previously told BOSSIP about navigating a long-distance marriage. Rather than attempting to monitor Maxwell from thousands of miles away, she said she relies on her faith and spiritual discernment, quipping, “If God can’t keep you, I surely can’t.”

Maxwell, meanwhile, pushes back on the idea that Rod could control him under any circumstances.

“Even if I’m close, he can’t control me,” he says. “I’m a full-grown man.”

Rod insists control isn’t the issue, telling the group that “nobody’s gonna have control probably when he gets to the United States.”

When Robinson asks him to elaborate, Aisha suggests that her godbrother’s real concern is financial.

“He’s more focused on the financial,” she says.

Robinson then puts the question to Rod directly: Does he believe Maxwell could steal Aisha’s money?

“Yeah, definitely,” Rod replies.

The accusation is particularly pointed considering Aisha has already spoken publicly about pushing back against scam-related stereotypes surrounding her Nigerian husband.

Will Rod eventually come around to Maxwell, or will his suspicions continue to cause tension for the newlyweds?
