Catherine played Patty Leigh, the former head of Continental Studios, who acts as a mentor to Remick.

“We just wanted her to think we were funny,” Seth reflected on her casting and presence on the set, via The Times.

“It has been an unbelievable challenge,” co-creator Evan Goldberg added in the interview.

“Obviously emotionally, dealing with the loss, but also when it comes to the show itself. We wrote it for her to be there. We had it all set and the shock waves permeate throughout the entire new season. It’s been difficult. You worded it better than we could — she was the anchor and now the anchor is gone.”

“If anything, we’re acknowledging the idea that we are a little anchorless,” Seth shared of the upcoming season.

“But, honestly, that is a part of life and what we all experience. And so while we try to not dwell too much on heavy themes in this show, they will be there in this second season. We are not ignoring it.”

Catherine passed away in January. Seth gave a moving speech about her at the Actor Awards.

Many stars have been spotted on the set of Season 2, including Madonna.
