Taylor Swift’s ‘Patient Zero’ Bumps Ella Langley’s ‘Choosin’ Texas’ From No. 1 After Record-Breaking Run

Taylor Swift has officially ended Ella Langley‘s record-breaking run at the top of the Billboard Hot 100!

The 36-year-old superstar’s new single “Patient Zero” has debuted at No. 1 on the chart, bumping Ella‘s hit song “Choosin’ Texas” down to the No. 2 position.

“Choosin’ Texas” previously spent a record-breaking 23 weeks at No. 1, making it the longest-running chart-topper in Hot 100 history.

“Patient Zero” is now Taylor‘s 16th career No. 1, while also tying another major Billboard record, per Variety.

Taylor Swift replaces “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1

“Patient Zero” enters the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1 this week, while “Choosin’ Texas” falls just one spot to No. 2 after its historic run at the top.

With her latest chart-topper, Taylor now has 16 No. 1 songs on the Hot 100. Only The Beatles, with 20, and Mariah Carey, with 19, have more No. 1 hits on the chart.

“Patient Zero” is also Taylor‘s 10th song to debut directly at No. 1, tying Drake for the most No. 1 debuts in Hot 100 history.

And “Patient Zero” isn’t her only new song near the top of the chart!

All four new songs from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore debuted in the top five. “Cleveland!” enters at No. 3, followed by “Babylon” at No. 4 and “Pink Clouding” at No. 5.

That means Taylor has four of the five biggest songs in the country this week.

The chart news comes one day after The Life of a Showgirl returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 following the release of The Encore. The album has now spent 13 total weeks at the top of the chart.
