Amelia Dimoldenberg Roasts Ed Sheeran on ‘SNL UK,’ Calls Him a ‘Red-Headed Puppet’

Amelia Dimoldenberg hosted SNL UK‘s show on Saturday (September 26), and a joke she made in her monologue is getting some attention.

The 32-year-old comedian and Chicken Shop Date host got on stage and spoke about her impressive resume of celebs she has interviewed for her YouTube series. She ended up making quite the joke about Ed Sheeran, who has been in the news lately.

What happened with Ed Sheeran?

If you didn’t see the news, earlier this month, Ed removed his former opening act Macklemore from the remaining shows on his tour amid backlash to the pro-Palestine comments he made on stage at two New Jersey concerts. All of Ed‘s opening acts and his backing band then dropped out.

The whole controversy reportedly stemmed from Gillette Stadium owner Robert Kraft not wanting Macklemore to perform at his venue. He reportedly pressured Ed to remove Macklemore from his Loop Tour following the rapper’s comments on stage at recent New Jersey shows.

Here’s what Amelia Dimoldenberg said about Ed Sheeran during SNL UK

During her monologue, Amelia said, “I’m incredibly privileged to have done so many interviews with people like Idris Elba, Cher, and even a world-famous, red-headed puppet with a hand up his *** telling him what to say.”

A photo of Elmo was on the screen when she said this. She then said, “No, the other one,” and the photo of Elmo was replaced with the photo of Ed.
